Transarterial Radioembolization is a interventional radiology but non surgical procedure for liver cancers which are in very initial stage or in advanced stage. The procedure is preferred at Livcure Centre in Delhi/NCR, India whereever possible as it is an almost non invasive procedure and saves the patient trauma of surgery.
Surgery ofcourse takes toll on the body and at times there are patients that are physically not fit to undergo such a major surgery like liver resection. In TARE procedure performed at Livcure Centre in Delhi/NCR, the radioactive substance is injected through the hepatic artery into the liver tumor directly with the help of a catheter inserted into a peripheral artery. The injected radioactive substance gets deposited in the tumor tissue and then locally emits radiation which causes the destruction of the tumor cells.
Patients who are in advanced stage of liver cancer and are looking for palliative treatment without surgery to relieve the symptoms are the best candidates for Transarterial Radioembolization (TARE). Also patients with localized tumours of liver can be very well treated through TARE at our Livcure Centre in Delhi/NCR, India. Apart from above conditions TARE is also one of the best options for patients where there is involvement of vessels and resection may be a challenge.
